Vessel Safety Checks
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary offers free Vessel Safety Checks to help boaters ensure their vessels meet federal and state safety requirements.
The Southeast District Coast Guard Auxiliary is the largest in the nation, covering South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. With more than 3,800 trained volunteers, we support Coast Guard missions on the water, in the air, and on land.
To volunteer with the Coast Guard Auxiliary, individuals must be U.S. citizens, at least 17 years old, and have no felony convictions. There are no upper age limits or specific physical requirements beyond being able to perform the chosen tasks. Volunteers can participate in various missions, including search and rescue, boating safety education, and supporting the Coast Guard’s operations.
The Southeast District USCG Auxiliary AI Assistant provides fast, policy-backed answers to questions on qualifications, procedures, training, and member administration — using vetted SOPs, ALAUX messages, and BSX policy — to support clarity, consistency, and operational readiness.
